Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress who is best known for the films Beta Saajan, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. Her career began in the late 1980s, and rose to popularity with her role in the film Tezaab where she starred with an established actor Anil Kapoor. Her subsequent appearance on the screen was in Dil alongside Aamir. In her early years her Mumbai-born dancer started developing her skills at a young age. As a young woman, she started acting but had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. Eventually she became one the most famous actresses in Indian films. After her marriage, she took a hiatus in her career. The actress returned in later years. Recently, she was a key player in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit received fifteen Filmfare Awards nominations, of which eight she won. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is India's fourth highest civil honor. She also has a reputation as a social activist.
